The eternal state the portion of all believers Revelation 21v7.
"He that overcometh shall inherit all things, and I will be his God, and He shall be my son."
Becoming a Christian is a win, win situation. Not only is there a home on a brand new earth, but there are rewards for anything you do in response to His grace. Even a cup of cold water given in the name of Christ shall be rewarded, and rewards are for eternity. The rewards are classed as portions, or lots, and are in stark contrast to the lot or part in verse 8. God is a giving God and this fact is imprinted on the pages of holy writ.
The Lamb on the throne in Revelation is described in Hebrews 1v2 as "the heir of all things" In Romans 8v17 Paul says of every believer, "heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. If so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together. "Ephesians 1 verse 11 "In whom also we have an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of HIs own will."
- Ephesians 1v14 - "Ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest (pledge) of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession.
- Acts 20v32 - "And now brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified."
- Acts 26v18 - "....from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, an inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me."
- Colossians 1v12 - "Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light." Peter describes it like this in 1st Peter 1v4 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you." This portion of inheritance for the saints is incorruptible because it cannot die; it is undefiled because it cannot be tarnished by outside influences; and it does not fade away, it shall never lose its value. The prospect of this is truly astonishing. The verse says "shall inherit all things." There is no limit placed on this; all things in the universe, the new universe because we are the sons of God. This subject matter is discussed in Galatians 4v1-9 . A son only realises the inheritance when he is full grown. In the eternal state all believers are full grown and receive their inheritance, which is incalculable. Paul described them in Ephesians 3v8 "the unsearchable riches of Christ."
We have already discussed the details of verse 8 but we must not miss the greatest contrast ever of a life style in the bliss and glory of the new earth, and the misery and torment of a life in the lake of fire. All those described in verse 8 it says "have their part (their lot, their portion) in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
