His aim                                                      Revelation 19v11 

" ... in righteousness He doth judge and make war."

His aim is to establish Divine righteousness on earth, and, where there is resistance, to forcibly crush all opposition. The language of war is proclaimed throughout the verses.

• The bloodstained garments    v13
• The armies in heaven             v14
• The sharp sword                     v15

Everyone likes the idea of the God of love, but few are willing to accept the God of war, yet that is what must be if righteousness is to prevail on the earth. Jesus sounded a warning in Matthew 10v34, in the context of His claim to priority in all our lives, above even family claims upon us, "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword." God's claims upon us are supreme, and if not met will have consequences. We have just been reading of a vast world system in opposition to God, which is brought down to the dust, never to rise again. The notion that any remaining rebels would fare any differently is naïve in the extreme and Jesus will return as the warrior king to finally eradicate all evil from the earth. In it's present state, it is unfit for His presence and He will cleanse it by mighty power. Consider the following scriptures which declare God to be antagonistic to sin, and for Jesus glorified to be the instrument of righteousness.

• Psalm 7v11-12         "God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. If he turn not He will whet His sword; He hath bent His bow, and made it ready". 
• Psalm 24v8               " Who is this king of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle...."
• Psalm 45v3-5            "Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty. And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things. Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies."
• Revelation 17v14       "These shall make war with the Lamb and the Lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords and King of kings".

The final battle is about to take place , Armageddon; but it will be no contest as we shall see. Jesus will bring to an end all enemies of God, in a comprehensive dismantling of all rogue governments; crushing of all rebel armies, and banishment of all individuals on earth in league with the beast.
